Colombian fan killed after football match in Brazil

SAO PAULO – A Colombian fan was stabbed to death in the early hours of Friday in a fight in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, capital of the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, hours after a football match between the Brazilian club Internacional and the Colombian Atletico Nacional.

Police said the deceased was identified as Alejandro Lopera Zuluaga, who died of a stab wound after a fight between Atletico Nacional fans who traveled to Brazil to watch their team play.

“The victim was found lifeless when he was taken to a hospital,” said the head of the Homicide Police Station of the Rio Grande do Sul, Raissa Araujo, who added that the people involved in the fight were of Colombian nationality.
